AC Milan remain a familiar name with a long frame around them: founded in 1899, based at the Stadio San Siro, and still carrying the scale expected of one of Italy’s established clubs.
Their completed 2025-26 campaign was uneven in its final stretch. They lost three of their last six league matches, including home defeats to Cagliari and Atalanta, but also won away to Genoa and Hellas Verona and drew 0-0 with Juventus.
The numbers suggested a side slightly more secure on the road than at San Siro. Milan averaged 1.5 goals scored and 0.7 conceded away from home, compared with 1.3 scored and 1.1 conceded at home. That away threat is not overwhelming, but it is steady enough to matter.
The squad was large and relatively young, with 46 players at an average age of 24. Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leão led the scoring with 10 goals each, followed by Christopher Nkunku on eight, Adrien Rabiot on six and Strahinja Pavlović on five.
For Celtic supporters, Milan profile as a high-calibre neutral opponent: experienced, technically equipped, and not without flaws, particularly given their inconsistent finish to the season.
