Luka Modrić, born 9 September 1985 (age 40), is a Croatian central midfielder now with AC Milan. He first made his mark at Dinamo Zagreb, where his most productive league season came in 2007–2008, with 13 goals in 25 appearances.
His career, though, is shaped overwhelmingly by Real Madrid. Across 13 seasons there, Modrić made 394 league appearances and scored 30 league goals. That length of service at Madrid tells its own story, particularly for a midfielder whose game has never relied on noise or spectacle.
At AC Milan in 2025–2026, he remains a regular first-team presence rather than a decorative late-career name. He has made 37 appearances in all competitions, including 34 in Serie A, with two league goals, along with two Coppa Italia appearances and one in the Supercoppa. His current market value is around £3m, according to Transfermarkt.
He has also stayed involved with Croatia this season, making one World Cup appearance and eight in European qualifying, scoring once in the qualifiers.
The shape of the career is clear enough: early promise and goals at Dinamo Zagreb, a long and defining spell at Real Madrid, and a late AC Milan chapter still involving regular minutes.
