Club Brugge are one of Belgium’s established names, founded in 1891 and based at the Jan Breydelstadion. Their squad was valued at around £197.5m by Transfermarkt, with 34 players and an average age of 24 – a sizeable group with a relatively young profile.
Their attacking numbers in the completed campaign were strong, particularly at home, where they averaged 2.3 goals scored and 1.3 conceded per match. Away from home they still carried a clear threat, averaging 1.7 scored and 1.1 conceded. They also started quickly often enough to matter, scoring first inside 20 minutes in seven of 17 league matches.
Nicolò Tresoldi and Christos Tzolis led the scoring with 23 and 22 goals respectively, while Hans Vanaken and Romeo Vermant both reached 12. Carlos Roberto “Carlos Forbs” Forbs Borges added 11, giving Brugge a spread of reliable output rather than a single point of dependence.
They finished with a convincing run of results: a 4-1 win over Mechelen, a 2-1 win at Westerlo, a 2-2 draw with Anderlecht, and further 2-1 victories against Charleroi, Oud-Heverlee Leuven and Cercle Brugge. For Celtic supporters, Brugge profile as a well-resourced Belgian side with pace in the forward areas, strong home scoring, and enough away threat to be treated seriously.
