Viljami Sinisalo was born on 11 October 2001 (age 24) and is a Finland international goalkeeper. A towering 6ft 5in (1.96m), he came through at Aston Villa before getting senior football elsewhere, including a short league spell with Burton Albion in 2022-23.
Celtic signed him from Aston Villa in July 2024 for around £1m. Wearing squad number 12, he has become part of the first-team group rather than a footnote around it, with 24 league appearances across three seasons. He won the Premiership in 2024-25 and 2025-26, and was also part of the Celtic side that lifted the League Cup in 2024-25.
In 2026-27, Sinisalo has made six league appearances for Celtic, along with outings in the League Cup, Scottish Cup, Champions League qualifiers and Europa League. He has also remained involved with Finland, featuring in World Cup qualifying and the Nations League.
His current market value is around £850,000, according to Transfermarkt. Still at Celtic, Sinisalo’s career is now shaped most clearly by his time in Glasgow: a Finnish goalkeeper signed from England, settled into the squad, and with domestic medals already attached to his name.
