Thelo Aasgaard - ah, sounds like the character from a crime novel. However, lest you be confused dear reader, our man here takes his trade on the football pitch, not between the pages in the mystery section. Born on the particularly non-dramatic date of 2 May 2002, in England of all mundane places, Aasgaard plies his craft as a midfielder. But not just any midfielder, mind you, his preference lies in the position of a central attacking midfielder. Positionally ambiguous, isn’t it?
He’s quite the unit, standing at 6ft 2in (1.88m), which you know, may explain his preference for that central attacking role. And let's not forget his bodyweight, a hearty 11st 4lb (72kg) - solid, but not exactly on the heavy side. The number 11 jersey is his wardrobe of choice when he suits up for Rangers. Oh, and in case you're curious, Aasgaard managed to wangle his way into representing Norway on the international stage. Well, it sure beats the rain and sleet of blighty.
The money men, notoriously hesitant to part with their gold, value our Aasgaard at around £2.6m (or €3m, for you continental folk) according to the virtual spreadsheets of Transfermarkt.
Beginning his career at Wigan Athletic as a wet-behind-the-ears trainee in July 2016, he trotted onto the field an impressive 41 times in his debut season - 2022/2023 - and even managed to hit the back of the net thrice in league matches.
Aasgaard’s wandering eye led him from Wigan Athletic to Luton Town in January 2025 for an undisclosed fee - oh how cloak-and-dagger! Although his goal scoring prowess took a hit, with him managing only 2 goals in 17 appearances, it must have been enough to pique the interest of Rangers.
Finding himself in Scotland at Rangers in July 2025, his skills apparently warranted a fee of around £3.5m. Considering his market value, I'd say someone got the short end of the stick. Nevertheless, our mysterious Norwegian has so far managed a whopping one goal in eight appearances this season - it’s early days though, I suppose.
One thing you can't fault is his work ethic, as shown by his often decorative appearances in a myriad of competitions for Rangers: The League Cup, Champions League Qualifiers, and the Europa League. Aasgaard even dabbles in international duty now and then, racking up five goals for Norway in the World Cup Qualifiers of 2024 - 2026. A veritable journeyman of the modern game, is our Aasgaard.
