Born on 20 November 2002 in Zimbabwe, Tawanda Maswanhise, at the tender age of 23, has carved out a reputation as a formidable forward, who primarily plies his trade as a left-winger for Motherwell. Standing at 5ft 8in (1.75m) and weighing in at 10st 12lb (69kg), this agile player dons the number 18 jersey. In addition to his club commitments, Maswanhise has also been honoured with call-ups to represent his native Zimbabwe on the international stage.
It's estimated that his current market value hovers around £600k, according to data from Transfermarkt.
His journey across the pitches of the footballing world began in earnest in July 2019 when Maswanhise joined Leicester City, then competing in England's Championship league. His tenure with the English side, however, would lead him northwards, making the transition from Leicester City to Motherwell in August 2024, trading the rigours of the Championship for the trials of the Scottish Premiership.
A testament to his abilities, his debut season at Motherwell, the 2024-2025 campaign, saw Maswanhise register a steady six goals from 30 first team appearances. Going from strength to strength, the following 2025-2026 season has already seen the Zimbabwean-born winger notch up a remarkable 14 goals from just 24 first team appearances.
Apart from his club duties, Maswanhise has not shied away from opportunities on a larger stage. In the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the fledgling forward recorded a goal from a single start and an appearance as a substitute. He has made an impact in domestic cup competitions too, scoring four times over seven appearances in the 2025-2026 League Cup for Motherwell and once from two starts in the Scottish Cup. He hasn't been found wanting on the world stage either, having been involved in Zimbabwe's 2024-2026 World Cup qualifiers, with two starts and five appearances as a substitute to his name.
