Stuart Findlay

Stuart Findlay of Heart of Midlothian was born in Rutherglen, Scotland on 14 September 1995 (age 29).

Stuart Findlay, a Scot born on 14 September 1995, is a seasoned defender best recognised for his central defender role at Hearts. Physically imposing, Findlay measures a lofty 6ft 3in (1.91m) and weighs in at a sturdy 12st 12lb (82kg). He proudly sports the number 19 jersey for his team.

Findlay's football career has been a stirring journey across several reputable clubs, starting with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership from where he transferred to Greenock Morton in the Championship on loan in January 2014. There, he made his mark in the 2013 - 2014 season with 14 first team appearances in league matches.

In a bid to enhance his game, Findlay embarked on another loan spell in January 2015; this time to Dumbarton in Scottish League Two from Celtic. The 2014 - 2015 season saw him making yet more headway, with 15 first team appearances.

Yet another loan spell, Findlay transferred from Celtic to Kilmarnock in the Premiership in July 2015 and subsequently made 22 first team appearances in the 2015 - 2016 season. His successive seasons at Kilmarnock saw him make a total of 204 first team appearances across a range of seasons, with a notable handful of goals to his name.

Crossing borders, in July 2016 Findlay transferred from Celtic to Newcastle United in the English Premier League. However, just over a year later, he was back on Scottish soil, transferring from Newcastle to Kilmarnock on loan in August 2017. More stellar appearances and a handful of goals at Kilmarnock followed over subsequent seasons.

In July 2018, Findlay made a permanent transfer from Newcastle United to Kilmarnock, where he continued his prolific stint of appearances and goals. An interesting international chapter unfolded in February 2021 when Findlay transferred for a fee of around £250,000 from Kilmarnock to Philadelphia Union in the American MLS. Despite the limited number of appearances over two seasons, this marked a remarkable phase in his career.

Following his stint across the Atlantic, Findlay moved back to England, transferring from Philadelphia Union to Oxford United in the Championship for an undisclosed fee in July 2022. He made a productive 28 first team appearances in the 2022 - 2023 season.

Coming full circle, Findlay returned to Scotland on loan in July 2023, transferring from Oxford United to Kilmarnock. His ever-growing tally of appearances and goals continued to rise as he made his presence felt in the Kilmarnock team yet again across several seasons. His loan completed in June 2025, and Findlay made a return to Oxford United, where he added another 28 appearances to his name in the 2022 - 2023 season.

The latest chapter in Findlay's compelling journey saw him make the move from Oxford United to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on loan in July 2025. The current 2025 - 2026 season at Hearts has already seen him make two first team appearances and score a goal. His contribution to Hearts has not been limited to league matches, as he also participated in the League Cup 2025 - 2026, marking an impressive start with a goal in his two starts and an appearance as a substitute.
