Sontje Hansen, born on 18 May 2002 (age 24), is a Curaçao international winger with Middlesbrough. Primarily used on the right, he wears No 27 and is valued at around £3m by Transfermarkt.
His most productive league season came with NEC Nijmegen in 2023-24, when he scored six goals in 33 appearances. That remains the clearest attacking return of his senior career so far, and it helped move him on from being a promising wide player to a more established first-team option.
At Middlesbrough in 2025-26, Hansen has remained involved rather than drifting to the edge of the squad. He made 17 Championship appearances, scoring once, with further outings in the FA Cup and the play-offs taking him to 20 appearances and one goal across all competitions for the club.
He has also been active internationally with Curaçao, featuring once at the World Cup and three times in North and Central American qualifying, where he scored once. His career is still developing, but the shape is clear enough: a right-sided attacker who produced steadily in the Netherlands and has become a regular part of Middlesbrough’s first-team picture.
