Scott Tanser, born in England on 23 October 1994, is a defender predominantly playing as a left back for St Mirren. Standing at 5ft 11in (1.81m) and weighing 11st 2lb (71kg), Tanser is a formidable presence on the pitch with the number 3 jersey.
Tanser's football journey started in July 2012 when he joined Rochdale, a club in the National League in England. His debut season of 2012-2013 saw him make just one first-team appearance. Nevertheless, he persevered, showing improvement during the 2014-2015 season with 30 first team appearances and scoring his first goal. While Tanser's contribution lessened in the subsequent seasons, his time at Rochdale clearly shaped his early career.
In January 2017, Tanser made a move from Rochdale to Port Vale in the English League Two, featuring 11 times in the same season.
Scotland beckoned Tanser in July 2017 as he transferred from Port Vale to St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership. Within his four seasons at St Johnstone, Tanser became a consistent performer. He made over 20 appearances each season with his best performance in the 2018-2019 campaign where he played 37 matches and netted three goals.
Remaining in Scotland, Tanser moved from St Johnstone to St Mirren in July 2021. His time at St Mirren has been marked by consistency, with over 30 appearances each season. His current 2024-2025 season at St Mirren has witnessed him on the field 21 times, scoring once.
In addition to league games, Tanser played in the League Cup 2024-2025 and Scottish Cup 2024-2025 for St Mirren, starting once in each competition, and made a substitute appearance in the Conference League Qualifiers 2024-2025.
