Ryan Finnigan

In the 2026–27 Premiership Finnigan has made six appearances, all starts, and has also featured five times in the League Cup – that level of starting involvement in the opening rounds indicates Dundee are deploying him as a first-choice centre midfielder who is expected to contribute through consistent minutes rather than as a rotation substitute.

Ryan Finnigan is 23, English and plays as a centre midfielder for Dundee. His career path shows an initial spell with Southampton, a loan to Shrewsbury Town in September 2023, a permanent move to Blackpool in January 2024 and subsequent loans involving Walsall in August 2025 and a January 2026 transaction between Walsall and Blackpool; he completed an undisclosed move to Dundee in July 2026. The sequence of loans followed by a permanent transfer to Dundee reflects a trajectory of moving through temporary moves before settling at his current club.

Finnigan’s transfers are dominated by loans and two undisclosed permanent moves – a transfer from Southampton to Blackpool in January 2024 and a move to Dundee in July 2026 were recorded as undisclosed, while loans include a September 2023 spell at Shrewsbury Town and an August 2025 loan to Walsall; a January 2026 entry between Walsall and Blackpool is recorded as R F Loan.
