Ross McCausland, a raw talent hailing from the lands of N. Ireland, celebrates his birthday on 12th March. At the tender age of 21, this lad has already made some noteworthy strides in his football career, gracing the right wing of Rangers with his fresh legs. Standing at the rather unimpressive height of 5ft 7in (1.71m), and carrying a weight of 10st 3lb (65kg), McCausland dons the number 45 jersey, a symbol of his modest beginnings perhaps.
His career began with the usual stuttering start that youngsters seem all too prone to. McCausland made one first-team appearance in both his debut season of 2021-2022 and the following season of 2022-2023 at Rangers. While some might judge this as an underwhelming start, McCausland's fans would likely tell you tales of patience and small victories.
And indeed, patience seemed to have paid off. McCausland made 29 first team appearances and scored a not too shabby three goals in the 2023-2024 season at Rangers. Currently into his 2024-2025 season with Rangers, young McCausland has made 12 first team appearances - not a bad showing for our N.Ireland lad.
His contributions haven't gone unnoticed in the cup competitions either. During the League Cup 2024 - 2025 for Rangers, McCausland managed to make his mark by scoring a goal in two substitute appearances. Similarly, during the Scottish Cup the same year, he scored a goal proving his worth in his solo start for the team. If his club performance wasn't enough proof of his potential, McCausland has also managed to make an impact on the international stage, representing Northern Ireland in the Euro Qualifiers 2022 - 2024 with a start.
Despite his somewhat lacking stature, McCausland indeed seems to have a knack for making himself seen and heard on the pitch. Be it the five appearances in the Europa League (2023 - 2024 and again in 2024 - 2025) with two goals to his name, or the Champions League Qualifiers 2024 - 2025 with two starts, or his two substitute appearances in the Nations League 2024 - 2025, McCausland seems to have a knack of popping up where least expected. A talent which no doubt, will serve him well in the years to come.
