Roland Idowu, born on the 21st of January 2002, is a Republic of Ireland native who at the tender age of 23, is making his name in the world of football. He stands tall at 6ft or 1.83m for those who prefer metric measurements and tips the scale at a secure 11st 6lb or 73 kg. This midfielder, who specialises in attacking from the centre, can currently be found sporting the number 12 jersey for St Mirren.
Idowu's career on the pitch has seen its fair share of movement. In August 2021, he made his leap to Bohemian FC, right at the heart of Premier Division football in his homeland, where he made his presence felt with five first team appearances during his debut season.
However, by January 2022, Idowu was on the move again, finding a new home with Waterford, also in the Premier Division in the Republic of Ireland. He continued his momentum for another couple of years before the allure of League One football in England proved too strong to resist. Thus, he swapped his Irish surroundings for Shrewsbury Town in January 2024.
Within a matter of months, July 2024 to be precise, Idowu packed his bags yet again, this time to set up camp in Scotland with St Mirren, albeit on loan. Since trading the blues and ambers of Shrewsbury for the black and white stripes of St Mirren, the 23-year-old has stamped his mark with 22 first team appearances and two credible goals in the 2024 - 2025 season.
Furthermore, he's seen action in the League Cup 2024 - 2025 for St Mirren with a solitary start and has also got a taste of international competition, being involved in the Conference League Qualifiers 2024 - 2025 for St Mirren with three starts and one appearance off the bench.
Clearly, Roland Idowu's journey has been one of continual movement and progression, a young talent carving out his foothold in British football and a name not to forget in the upcoming seasons.
