Rabbi Matondo, born 9 September 2000 (age 25), is a Welsh left winger now with Brann, where he wears squad number 26. His early career took him from Cardiff City’s academy into Manchester City’s youth set-up, before Schalke gave him senior football in Germany.
The loan that did most to sharpen his profile came at Cercle Brugge in 2021-22. He scored nine league goals in 26 appearances, still his most productive league season, and looked more like a player with a defined attacking role rather than just pace to be filed under potential.
Rangers took him to Scotland after that spell. His time there brought a League Cup medal, though it was hardly a period of effortless dominance. There were flashes, as there usually are with quick wide players, but Celtic supporters did not lose much sleep over the broader body of work.
Matondo has since moved on and is now in Norway with Brann. In 2026, he has made three Eliteserien appearances. His career has already taken in Wales, England, Germany, Belgium, Scotland and Norway – a varied route for a winger still trying to turn obvious athletic gifts into a consistent top-level career.
