Omonia Nicosia are one of Cyprus’s established clubs, founded in 1948 and based at the GSP Stadium. Their current campaign has the shape of a side operating near the top end of the Cypriot First Division while also carrying a European workload.
In the 2026-27 season, Omonia sit third in the First Division. Their recent league run has been uneven but productive enough: a 2-0 win over AEL Limassol followed defeat at AEK Larnaca, while earlier results included a 3-0 away win at Karmiotissa and a 4-1 home win against Krasava ENY Ypsonas.
The squad is a mature one, with 31 players and an average age of 27. Loïs Diony has been the main scorer so far with eight goals, ahead of Muamer Tanković on three, while Panagiotis Andreou, Luuk Brouwers and Senou Coulibaly have each contributed two.
Omonia’s European season has already taken them through Champions League qualifying, the Europa League qualifying play-offs and into the Europa League league phase. For Celtic supporters, they are a familiar type of opponent in continental terms: experienced, organised, and unlikely to be short of competitive rhythm.
