Nicky Devlin, a sprightly lad of 31 years, was born in Scotland on 17 October 1993. He's earned himself a bit of a reputation as a reliable defender, playing primarily as a right back for Aberdeen. The laddie stands at 6ft (1.83m) in his bare feet and tips the scales at about 12st 6lb (79kg). You'll see him proudly wearing the number 2 jersey. He's even represented Scotland on the international stage, a fine achievement by any measure.
Devlin has a current market value of around €600k, or for those of us playing the game in pounds sterling, that's roughly £510k, according to Transfermarkt. His contract with Aberdeen has about 4months left to run, ticking down to its expiry on 31 May 2025.
Devlin's football journey kicked off in earnest in July 2010, when he joined Dumbarton in the Scottish League One. In his debut season, the lad made a respectable 23 appearances in league matches. For the season 2012-2013, things were a wee bit quieter, but he still turned out 16 times in the first team in league matches.
May 2011 saw Devlin pack his bags and swap Dumbarton for Motherwell, up in the Scottish Premiership, for an undisclosed fee. But the Motherwell ties wouldn't last long. He was off on loan to Stenhousemuir in the League One in Scotland by January 2012. There, he made a modest six first-team appearances in league matches.
Devlin spent another couple of loan seasons at Stenhousemuir (2012-2013 and 2013-2014), making a total of 38 first team appearances across the two seasons. Then, in July 2013, he waved goodbye to Motherwell and joined Stenhousemuir on a permanent basis. In his three seasons with them, he made a solid 44 first team appearances in league matches.
Devlin traded clubs again in July 2014, joining Ayr United in the Championship in Scotland. He netted a couple of goals during his 36 first-team league appearances in the 2014-2015 season, and another in the following season, which saw him make 34 first team appearances. His 2016-2017 season with Ayr United saw him make yet another 34 first team appearances.
In July 2017, Devlin ventured south, transferring from Ayr United to Walsall in England's League Two. He made 18 first team appearances during his 2017-2018 season.
July 2019 saw Devlin return to Scotland, transferring from Walsall to Livingston in the Scottish Championship. He made a handful of appearances in his first season, but came into his own in the following seasons, making a total of 112 first team appearances between the 2020 and 2023 seasons, and banging in a commendable six goals.
Most recently, in July 2023, Devlin moved back up to the Scottish Premiership, when he transferred from Livingston to Aberdeen. To date he's made 64 appearances for the club, scoring six goals. Not too shabby eh?
In addition to his performances in the league, Devlin has also contributed in various cup competitions including the League Cup 2024-2025 and the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 for Aberdeen, as well as in the Nations League 2024-2025 for Scotland and the Conference League 2023-2024 for Aberdeen.
