Born to the world in the often overlooked historical vessel that is Macedonia, Nedim Bajrami arrived on 28 February 1999. Now, at a sprightly 27 years of age, he makes his coin primarily as a central attacking midfielder for Rangers. It's always nice to see ambition. He's not the tallest of chaps, standing at 5ft 10in (1.79m) tall and he carries a weight of 10st 9lb (68kg). That's 68kg of sheer determination wrapped in an Albania national team jersey. Except when he's not, of course, instead donning the number 14 for Rangers.
Bajrami's current market value is around £2.14m, at least according to Transfermarkt. Though let's be honest, I'm personally a bit cynical about these awards. Then again, who can really put a price on kicking around a bit of pigskin?
In a grand commencement in 2009, Nedim Bajrami trained with the Grasshoppers in the Super League in Switzerland. Nothing quite says introduction to the professional world like Swiss precision. A solid debut season, modest appearance growth and overall development resulted in a transfer from the Grasshoppers to Empoli in Italy in August 2019 for a fee of roughly £367k.
Empoli clearly had more in mind for our young friend, which presumably was the reason behind the move. Bajrami appeared in an increasing number of games, scored more commendable goals with every passing season, and eventually managed to transfer to Sassuolo, still in Italy, on loan in January 2023. Kind of feels like musical chairs, only with football teams and minus eccentric aunts.
Following his loan stint, Sassuolo seemed to catch feelings for Bajrami and tied the knot on a £5m deal in July 2023. While there he had respectable seasons, netting a few goals but, apparently not one to sit still, he transferred to Rangers in Scotland in August 2024 for a fee of around £3.5m.
Bajrami appears to be settling in quite nicely at Rangers. He made a respectable number of appearances in his first season and has seen regular game time in the current season (2025 - 2026), when he's not busy gallivanting off to participate in other footballing endeavours such as the League Cup, Scottish Cup, World Cup Qualifiers for Albania, and Champions League Qualifiers.
All in all, an interesting career thus far, wouldn't you say? Now let's sit back and see how long this loyal lad stays with Rangers, shall we? After all, it seems a footballer's lot is forever in transit.
