Mikael Mandron, born on the 11th of October 1994 in France, is currently a 30-year-old forward who plies his trade primarily as a striker for St Mirren. At a commanding 1.91m (or 6ft 3in) tall, and weighing 82kg (or 12st 12lb), Mandron wears the number 9 jersey, a number synonymous with strikers in football.
Mandron's career in English football started with Sunderland in the Premier League, where he joined as a trainee in July 2011. His first season, 2012-2013, saw him make two appearances in league matches, which was followed by a sole appearance the next season. A loan move in January 2014 saw Mandron transition from the heights of the Premier League to Fleetwood Town in the lower League Two division. Mandron's stint at Fleetwood consisted of 11 appearances and a single goal.
Subsequently, Mandron experienced numerous loan moves, transitioning first to Shrewsbury Town in January 2015 (with three league appearances), and then, in November of the same year, to Hartlepool United, where he made five appearances. By July 2016, Mandron had transferred to Eastleigh in the National League, the fifth tier of English football, making 28 appearances, and impressively netting ten goals in a successful season.
2017 saw another move, this time to Wigan Athletic in League One, where Mandron registered three first team appearances. Moving clubs yet again, Mandron joined Colchester United in League Two in July 2017. His season with Colchester saw him score eight goals in 28 appearances. But his time at Colchester was short-lived, and by July 2019, Mandron had moved to Gillingham in League Two, where he made 23 appearances and scored a single goal by the 2022-2023 season.
Subsequent moves included a brief stint at Crewe Alexandra in August 2020 followed by a return to Gillingham, and 23 appearances later, it was time to move again. The Frenchman’s journey finally brought him north; in January 2023, Mandron transferred to the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell, scoring one goal in ten appearances. From Motherwell, Mandron got a taste of another Scottish team, transferring to St Mirren in July 2023.
Mandron’s period at St Mirren has been fruitful. He has made a significant number of appearances over multiple seasons, scoring a respectable number of goals. In his first season (2023-2024), Mandron made 35 appearances and scored eight goals. The 2024-2025 season was similarly solid, with 34 appearances and seven goals to his name. As for the current season of 2025-2026, Mandron has already made two appearances.
Notable contributions also include League Cup 2025-2026 for St Mirren, scoring four goals in three starts and one appearance as a substitute, and Scottish Cup 2024-2025 for St Mirren, netting one goal in two starts. Mikael Mandron’s career demonstrates a journeyman striker’s tale with regular moves and adaptability to multiple clubs and tiers, but always with the same commitment - to get on the pitch and score goals.
