Miguel Chaiwa, born on 7 June 2004 in Zambia, is a young footballer making his name as a talented central defensive midfielder. Currently plying his trade with the Hibernian team, this 21-year-old stands at 5ft 10in (1.79m) tall, with a solid weight of 11st 6lb (73kg). Chaiwa carries the number 14 on his back and has represented his birth nation of Zambia internationally.

Chaiwa's journey in professional football began at Shamuel, a second division club in Zambia. There he was noticed by Swiss Super League club, Young Boys Bern, and was transferred to them in July 2022 for an undisclosed fee. During his tenure with Young Boys Bern, Chaiwa featured sporadically in his debut season, making six appearances in 2022-23. His game time slightly dipped in the 2023-24 season to just three appearances, but he later found opportunities in the 2024-25 season with 10 appearances.
A career move beckoned for Chaiwa in February 2024, when he was loaned to FC Schaffhausen, a side in the 1. Liga Promotion in Switzerland. Chaiwa saw more game time, playing 14 matches for Schaffhausen in the 2023-24 season. However, in June 2024, he returned to Young Boys Bern on completion of his loan.
In search for more game time, the young midfielder transferred to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership in August 2025 for around Β£700k. His current season (2025-26) at Hibernian ticketed his stride towards more regular football, as evidenced by his tally of 23 first team appearances and a respectable haul of one goal.
Chaiwa seems to be building a fruitful international career as well. He was a part of Zambia's campaign in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 where he made two starts. Moreover, he has represented the Zambian side in the World Cup Qualifiers Africa 2024-26 with three starts. His club contributions were not limited to domestic leagues alone. He participated in the League Cup 2025-26 for Hibernian, starting in two matches. He also found some game time in the Scottish Cup 2025-26 with one appearance as a substitute. Furthermore, and notably, he scored one goal in two appearances as a substitute for Hibernian in the Conference League Qualifiers 2025-26.
