Marvin Ekpiteta, born on the 26th of August 1995, is an English central defender turning out for Hibernian. Standing at a commanding 6 ft 3 in (1.93m), Ekpiteta is a distinct presence on the pitch. As a robust player, he packs a substantial punch, tipping the scales at 13st 5lb (85kg). He is frequently seen proudly wearing the number 4 jersey for his team.
The late 2010s saw Ekpiteta climb the tiers of English football. In January 2018, he made a move from the comparatively obscure East Thurrock in the National League South to Leyton Orient in League One. The specifics of the deal were never publicly disclosed.
Ekpiteta continued on his upward trajectory, moving to Blackpool, also in League One, in July 2020. In his debut season (2021 - 2022), he played a central role, playing no less than 40 games and even finding the net five times. The following season saw somewhat diminished numbers, with 25 appearances and a solitary goal.
In July 2024, Ekpiteta moved across the border, leaving Blackpool and England behind for Hibernian in the top tier of Scottish football. In the current season (2024 - 2025), he has been a constant figure in the defence, already having played 13 matches.
Additionally, Ekpiteta made his presence felt in the League Cup during the current season. He found the net once in four starts, reinforcing his reputation as a defender with a notable attacking contribution.
