Martin Boyle, or the proud bear of number 10 as Hibernian fans fondly call him, is no stranger on Scottish soil. Born on 25 April 1993, this Scotsman who also sports the green and gold of Australia, is 32 years young. Measured at 5ft 10in (1.78m) in height and weighing around 11st (70kg), Boyle chiefly graces the football pitch as a forward, more precisely a right winger.
His footballing journey took off in July 2009 at the age of 16 when he was recruited by Montrose, a club finding their footing in Scotland’s League One. Though his initial season was marked by a modest five appearances with no goals, Boyle’s potential could not be quashed. The following season he found the back of the net thrice in 23 appearances. His third and fourth seasons saw a spike in both appearances and goals, with Boyle making an impressive 36 and 15 outings and scoring a remarkable 22 and 9 goals respectively.
August 2012 saw a transfer that propelled Boyle to Dundee in the Scottish Premiership. His first season with the club comprised nine appearances, but no goals. Boyle’s following seasons in sky blue were punctuated by the frequent rustling of the net. Season 2013-2014 had him scoring four times in 29 appearances and in season 2014-2015, he featured 18 times.
A loan spell back to his old club of Montrose punctuated Boyle’s time at Dundee. Following this interlude, he was back in Dundee blue where his performance echoed his previous stint.
January 2015 saw a transfer to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership, initially on loan, which was vocalised as a full transfer in July that same year. In his debut season wearing the Hibernian green, he garnered three goals from 17 games, and subsequently 48 goals across 223 appearances over the following 9 seasons. His current season stats stand at one goal from seven games.
Boyle’s time in the Scottish Premiership was momentarily interrupted in January 2022 with a £3m transfer to Al-Faisaly in Saudi Arabia's First Division. However, his time in the Middle East was six months short as Boyle made a return to his beloved Hibernian in August of the same year.
Additionally, Boyle has left his footballing imprint on various prominent tournaments. He participated in the 2025-2026 League Cup and 2025-2026 Europa League Qualifiers for Hibernian, and the 2024-2026 World Cup Qualifiers for Australia. Most notably, he scored two goals in the 2024-2025 Scottish Cup and three goals in the 2025-2026 Conference League Qualifiers for Hibernian.
Even though Martin Boyle was not bred in the Celtic green, he is still considered a monumental presence in Scottish football, particularly at Hibernian. That said, he will always remain a part of the broader tale of football on Caledonian soil, irrespective of the colour of his jersey.
