Born on 23 April 1998 in Uruguay, Marcelo Saracchi is a gifted defender who presently serves Celtic Football Club as a left back. The Uruguayan national stands at a height of 5ft 7in (1.72m) and tips the scales at 10st 5lb (66kg). He sports the number 36 on his Jersey while representing both Celtic and the Uruguay national team.

In August of 2017, Saracchi changed his football allegiances from Danubio FC in the Uruguayan Primera División and took the decision to join River Plate in the Argentine Primera División at a cost of approximately £1.9m.
He fulfilled his role in 19 league matches in the 2017 - 2018 season at River Plate and in July 2018, signed an agreement to join RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, Germany for a fee that hovered around £12m. His contribution to the team saw him make nine appearances in his inaugural season, followed by four appearances and scoring one goal in the 2019 - 2020 season.
In early 2020, Saracchi was loaned out to the Turkish Süper Lig side, Galatasaray, where he made a declaration of his footballing skills by featuring in 41 league matches and scoring two goals in two seasons.
His tenure at Galatasaray ended in June 2021, which saw him return to RB Leipzig, where he made a sum of 13 appearances across two seasons.
By February 2022, the Uruguayan defender found his way into the Spanish LaLiga by signing for Levante. Saracchi featured 29 times in league matches during two seasons at Levante.
His journey then saw a shift back to South America in August 2023, when he joined Argentinean side Boca Juniors for a price tag of nearly £1.6m. He bent the net once and made 13 appearances in his debut season.
His footballing journey took another turn in August 2025 when he was loaned out to Scottish Premiership side, Celtic. His time so far with the Bhoys has seen him make 15 league appearances and net the ball once in the present 2025 - 2026 season.
In addition to his league action, Saracchi represented Celtic in the League Cup and the Scottish Cup, where he made one start and a sub appearance respectively. Internationally, he made five appearances, including two starts for Uruguay in the World Cup South American Qualifiers.
