Polworth's footballing journey began with Inverness CT, joining their ranks in July 2010. In his debut season (2010 - 2011), he had a single first team appearance in league matches. His stint at Inverness was characterised by a steady increase in game time, highlighted by the 2015 - 2016 and 2016 - 2017 seasons where he made 36 and 32 appearances, netting six and three goals respectively.
In July 2019, he moved from Inverness CT to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership. At Motherwell, he featured 30 times and scored once in his inaugural season, continuing with 21 first team appearances the following season without finding the back of the net.
