Midfielder Liam Donnelly, born in Northern Ireland on 7 March 1996, is best known as a central defensive midfielder for St Mirren. Standing at 1.81m (5ft 11in) tall and weighing 79kg (12st 6lb), this commanding presence wears the number 44 jersey on the field.
Donnelly's career in professional football began in July 2011 at Dungannon Swifts in the Premiership in Northern Ireland, making seven first team appearances during his debut season. However, his tenure was short-lived as just a year later in July 2012, he caught the attention of English clubs and transferred to Fulham in the Premier League for an undisclosed fee.
His stay at Fulham was punctuated by a loan move to Crawley Town in England's League Two in July 2015, during which he made ten first team appearances. After the completion of his loan term, he subsequently made a permanent move to Hartlepool United in the National League in England in August 2016. Over the course of two seasons, he played a total of 54 league matches, finding the back of the net on two occasions.
In July 2018, Donnelly returned to Scottish soil, transferring from Hartlepool United to Motherwell in the Premiership for an undisclosed fee. His impressive form continued as he tallied a total of 22 goals across four seasons, within 53 league appearances. After his run with Motherwell, he made another move within the realm of Scottish football in July 2022, transferring to Kilmarnock. This stint saw him score three goals in 74 league matches.
In what is his current club as of July 2025, Donnelly now plies his trade at St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. Although he has yet to make a mark in the 2025-2026 season, his fans and fellow teammates eagerly anticipate the contributions he will make to the team in the ongoing season.
