Lewis Ferguson, born on 24 August 1999 (age 27), is a Scotland midfielder now with Bologna, where he wears the number 19 shirt. Primarily a central midfielder, he has built his career on reliability, timing into the box and enough edge to make him more than a tidy passer.
His best league return came at Aberdeen in 2021-22, when he scored 11 goals in 36 appearances. That was the season which made his next step feel logical rather than speculative, even if Scottish football is often slow to accept that players can leave it and improve.
Ferguson has since established himself in Italy with Bologna. In 2026-27 he has made five Serie A appearances and two in the Supercoppa, taking him to seven appearances across all competitions for the club this season. His market value is around £15.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
He has also remained involved with Scotland, with three World Cup appearances, five World Cup qualifying appearances and one goal, plus four Nations League appearances this season. Ferguson’s career so far is a straightforward one: strong domestic development, a productive Aberdeen spell, and a serious move abroad that has kept him firmly in the Scotland picture.
