Lawrence Shankland, now a 30-year-old striker, was born on the 10th of August, 1995, in Scotland. This robust frontman, 6 foot in height (1.85m) and 12st 1lb in weight (77kg), currently brings his talents to bear for Hearts, sporting the renowned number 9 jersey. Alongside his club commitments, obviously, is his representation for the Scotland national team.
At present, Shankland shows a market value of around £2.1m as suggested by Transfermarkt.
In July of 2012, Shankland first pulled his boots on professionally for Queen's Park in the Scottish Championship. His impact was immediate and profound - scoring ten goals in 33 league games during the 2012 - 2013 season.
Come July of 2013, Shankland switched allegiances - moving from Queen's Park in the Championship to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, with the fee revealed to be undisclosed. His first Aberdonian season, 2014 - 2015, accounted for 17 first team league games.
January of 2014 saw a temporary detour for Shankland, with a loan move from Aberdeen to Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Championship. Here, Shankland once again proved his voracity in front of goal, notching seven in only 13 league matches for the 2013 - 2014 season. May of the same year beckoned him back to Aberdeen, where he completed the remainder of the 2014 - 2015 season.
Another stint away from Aberdeen occurred in August 2015, with a loan move to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. Over the following two seasons (2015 - 2016 and 2016 - 2017), Shankland contributed ten goals in 48 league appearances for the Saints.
January of 2017 took him to yet another venue, this time on loan to Greenock Morton in the Championship. His lone season there saw 16 games played and four goals scored. Upon the conclusion of that loan, Shankland found a new home, committing to Ayr United in the Championship in September of 2017, claiming an impressive count of 16 goals in his first season of 18 appearances.
July 2019 saw Shankland on the move again, this time transferring to Dundee United in the Premiership. Over three seasons, Shankland managed 65 games and 16 goals for United.
In August 2021, Shankland set sail for foreign shores, signing with Belgian side Beerschot in the Challenger Pro League for a fee settlements at around £1.1m. His lone season in Belgium yielded five goals in 26 games.
By July 2022, the call of Scotland was too great, and Shankland returned to the Premiership and signed for Hearts. Since making the move, Shankland has made his presence felt - recording 55 goals across 113 appearances in three full seasons and the current 2025 - 2026 campaign.
His influence has also seeped into his international commitments. The list of his notable participations range from Euro 2024 qualifiers, where he scored in three appearances, to League Cup 2025 - 2026 for Hearts, where he found the net three times in four outings. His World Cup and Nations League campaigns for Scotland have seen him add to his tally, making a sound contribution to his team's efforts.
