Kyogo Furuhashi was born in Ikoma, Japan, on 20 January 1995 (age 31). A compact striker at 5ft 7in (1.70m), he came to Celtic from Vissel Kobe in July 2021 for around £4.5m and quickly became more than a tidy import with clever movement. His best league season came in 2022-2023, when he scored 27 goals in 36 appearances.
His Celtic spell brought proper substance: three Premiership titles, three League Cups and two Scottish Cups, as well as a Scottish Cup runners-up medal. He was not just around for those trophies. His finishing, timing and capacity to unsettle centre-halves gave Celtic a different edge in the final third.
Kyogo left Celtic in January 2025, joining Rennes for around £10m. He had been linked with a move from Celtic to Birmingham City earlier that month, before the Rennes deal. Spells with Rennes and Birmingham City followed, with his Birmingham record in 2025-2026 standing at 31 appearances and three goals across all competitions.
He later returned to Celtic and remains part of the first-team picture. His current market value is around £4m, according to Transfermarkt. The career has taken a few turns since that first Celtic run, but the main shape remains clear enough: Vissel Kobe gave him the platform, Celtic gave him the stage, and he is still relevant in Glasgow.
