Kelechi Iheanacho, born 3 October 1996 (age 29), is a Nigerian striker whose career is still anchored by his long spell at Leicester City. Over seven seasons there he made 173 league appearances and scored 35 league goals, with his best league return coming in 2020–2021, when he scored 12 times in 25 appearances.
That Leicester period gives the career its shape. Iheanacho was not always the central figure, but he was there long enough, and contributed often enough, for the association to stick. His game has generally been about penalty-box timing, link play around the front line and a knack of producing goals in runs rather than as a constant stream.
He joined Celtic in September 2025 and has remained part of the first-team picture in 2025–2026. Across all competitions he has made 22 appearances and scored nine goals, including five in 13 league matches, three in two Scottish Cup ties and one in seven Europa League outings. That is useful enough, if not exactly a coronation.
He has also stayed involved with Nigeria this season, making three appearances in African World Cup qualifying and scoring once. His current market value is around £2.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Iheanacho’s career is best understood as a long Leicester spell followed by a later move to Celtic, where he has become a regular attacking option. He remains an established senior striker rather than a developing project.
