Junior Adamu, hailing from Nigeria and born on 6 June 2001, serves Celtic as a trusted forward, primarily in the role of a striker. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall (approximately 1.82 metres) and weighing in at 11 stone 6 pounds (about 73 kilograms), it's with finesse rather than size that he has made the number 9 jersey his own.
According to data available at Transfermarkt, he currently boasts a market value in the region of £4.5m.
Adamu's career initiated at FC Liefering in the Austrian 2. Liga where he joined as a trainee in July 2015. Impressing quickly with his debut season of 2018 - 2019, he notched up five goals in 16 appearances. The following year, he accelerated his performance with an astonishing 14 goals in 20 appearances. Season 2020 - 2021 witnessed seven goals from his side in 13 appearances.
February 2021 saw Adamu temporarily departing FC Liefering and joining St. Gallen in the Swiss Super League. His tally there was an impressive six goals in 14 first team appearances.
He was back in the Austrian league with Red Bull Salzburg in July 2021 after a transfer from FC Liefering for an undisclosed fee. His tenure in Salzburg resulted in 7 goals from 30 appearances in season 2021 - 2022. The subsequent season brought ten goals in 28 appearances.
In July 2023, Adamu took a step up to the German Bundesliga with SC Freiburg in a deal worth around £8.1m. Here, his appearances increased but the net result was less spectacular with two goals across 15 appearances in the 2023 - 2024 season, 25 appearances and two goals in the 2024 - 2025 season, and a singular goal across nine appearances in the current 2025 - 2026 season.
In an interesting turn of events, Adamu transferred to Freiburg II, the Reserve side, in January 2024 and made two league appearances during the 2023 - 2024 season. He was promptly transferred back to SC Freiburg's first team the following month.
February 2026 marked a high in Adamu’s career as he boarded a plane to Scotland to join Celtic on loan. Though it's early days yet, in the current season he has already made three first team appearances. His contributions to Celtic's Scottish Cup and Europa League campaigns in the 2025 - 2026 season, during which he scored a goal apiece, show indication of a promising future.
