Jon Gorenc Stanković, born on 14 January 1996 (age 30), is a Slovenian central defensive midfielder whose senior career has been shaped above all by Sturm Graz. At 6ft 3in (1.90m), he brings an imposing frame to the middle of the pitch, though his value to Sturm has been more about durability and role discipline than anything especially showy.
Across seven seasons with Sturm Graz, Stanković has made 178 league appearances and scored 15 league goals. His most productive league campaign came in 2021-22, when he scored four times in 30 appearances, a decent return for a player operating from deeper areas.
In 2026-27, he has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Sturm, scoring once. That includes three domestic league appearances, four in Champions League qualifying and eight in the Europa League. He has also been involved with Slovenia, making two appearances in European World Cup qualifying this season.
His current market value is around £3.5m, according to Transfermarkt. For all the usual movement around modern careers, Stanković’s has remained unusually concentrated: a long Sturm Graz spell, steady international involvement with Slovenia, and a reputation built over time rather than noise.
