Born on 6th March 1998, Johnny Koutroumbis, the Australian defender, currently renders his services to Motherwell. Mainly operating as a right back, Koutroumbis, at the age of 27, is 6ft (1.83m) tall and weighs 11st 6lb (73kg). His current market value is around £300k according to Transfermarkt.
Koutroumbis started his journey in the world of professional football with Newcastle United Jets in the A-League in Australia, where he joined as a trainee in July 2016. He quickly showed his potential in his debut 2016-2017 season making 22 appearances for the first team in league matches. In the subsequent seasons from 2017 to 2021, he appeared in a total of 64 first team league matches for the Jets, netting the ball thrice.
In July 2021, Koutroumbis decided to switch his allegiance transmitting from Newcastle United Jets to Western Sydney Wanderers. During the 2021-2022 season he played 17 times for the Western Sydney gracing the field in league matches scoring once.
His journey with Wanderers was however short-lived as he transferred to Perth Glory just after a year in July 2022. Over the next two seasons in Perth, he made 40 first team appearances in league matches showing his consistency.
In a significant stride, Koutroumbis emigrated from Australia to Scotland in July 2024 joining Motherwell in the Premiership. The 2024-2025 season saw him appear eight times for Motherwell in the league. In the current 2025-2026 season, Koutroumbis, has been on the field for six league matches till date scoring once. He also participated in the League Cup 2025-2026 for Motherwell with three starts and two appearances as a substitute.
