Ah, Jefté Vital da Silva Dias, born on the 21st of December 2003 that makes him a ripe old 21 years of age. Hailing from the football factory known as Brazil, this lad apparently specialises in the art of defence and finds his joy at left-back for none other than Rangers, our beloved neighbours. He measures in at 6 feet tall (that's roughly 1.83m for those of you fluent in metric) and tips the scales at a sprightly 11st 13lb (or 76kg for the rest of the world).
He parades about in the number 22 jersey. Now, just where did he pop up from you might wonder? Well, our dear Jefté started his what we could call illustrious career at Fluminense in the Série A back in his homeland, Brazil. He was undergoing the rigours of becoming a trainee, a nightmarish process I honestly don't wish on anyone. Or, perhaps, it was a Brazilian beach holiday, who knows?
Then, in 2023, he embarked on his first footballing adventure overseas with a quaint little loan trip to APOEL in Cyprus. He was there for just a season (2023-2024), making 31 appearances and netting three goals. Not a headline-worthy tally but he got himself noticed.
Now, for any details about his escapades in Cyprus, you'd have to chat with our mainland European counterparts, but it seems his exploits were enough to catch the eye of the cash-flashing whims at Rangers and they brought him over for a nice round sum of around £680k. That was back in 2024.
Here in the current season (2024-2025) at Rangers, he has already been in the starting lineup 26 times. Impressive numbers, if you're into that sort of thing. He's had a few other runouts as well, four starts in the League Cup, a couple in the Scottish Cup, one start and one substitute appearance in the Champions League Qualifiers, and a whopping eight starts in the Europa League. And you thought playing football was all fun and games.
He's kept himself rather busy since his move to Scotland. One can only hope he doesn't get too exhausted traipsing around the pitch and has some energy left for putting in a decent shift. Only time will tell.
