Jeffrey Schlupp, born 23rd December 1992 in Germany, is a seasoned defender presently filling the left back role for Celtic. He hails from the Emerald Isle standing at 5ft 10in (1.78m) and tipping the scales at an athletic 11st 4lb (72kg). The Celtic faithful will likely recognise Schlupp in the number 15 shirt. As of now, Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be around £5m, an equated figure from an original estimate of €6.00m. However, with his contract drawing to a close on the 31st May 2025, Celtic has just about three months left with Schlupp.
Schlupp's journey in football began in England when he joined Leicester City in July 2010. His six-year stint with the Premier League team was marked by ups and downs, with his appearances ranging from 4 to 32 per season. He proved his worth as a striker, netting goals in every season, peaking at 3 goals in both the 2012-13 and 2014-15 seasons.
Leading up to the 2011 season, Schlupp enjoyed a brief loan to Brentford, another Premier League team. His short stint included a pleasing scoring spree, with five league goals from just nine appearances. On completion of his loan, Schlupp returned to Leicester for the 2011 – 2012 season.
January 2017 saw Schlupp depart Leicester to join Crystal Palace, in a transfer move that cost Palace about £12m. He remained with Crystal Palace for approximately eight seasons, making his presence felt in a range of 15 to 34 appearances per season. He maintained a steady goal-scoring presence here as well, peaking at four goals in the 2018-19 season.
In February 2025, Schlupp displayed his influence on Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, having been loaned from Crystal Palace. Despite it being his current season, Schlupp managed to make five appearances and also scored one goal. He also got a flavour of the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 with two starts, and the Champions League 2024-2025 with one start and another appearance as a substitute.
