James Scott, born on 30th August 2000 in Scotland, is an accomplished forward primarily plying his trade as a striker for St Mirren. With a commanding physical stature, Scott stands at 6ft 2in (1.88m) and weighs in at 13st 9lb (87kg). He is much recognised on the pitch with his number 14 jersey.
Scott's football journey started earnestly in October 2013 when he joined Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership as a trainee. Over the course of his 2017 to 2020 spell at Motherwell, Scott made a total of 36 appearances in league matches, scoring a modest four goals.
In a move that marked a turning point in his career, Scott transferred to Hull City in England's Championship for a fee of approximately £1.5 million in January 2020. Despite making only 8 first-team appearances across the seasons 2019-2022, Scott managed to get his name on the scoresheet once.
In August 2021, Scott got a taste of different pastures as he was loaned out to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership where he enjoyed a relatively productive stint, scoring four goals in 16 appearances. However, by June 2022 he had returned to Hull City to complete the terms of his loan. His subsequent spell at the English club, however, saw him barely making his mark.
Another shift saw Scott transfer from Hull City to Exeter City in England's League One in January 2023, making a total of four first-team appearances but failing to score.
In a surprising turn of events, Scott was transferred on loan again in January 2024 - this time to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. Following 11 appearances and a goal, Scott made the move permanent in July 2024. Since then, similar to his loan stint, he has made 11 appearances in the current season of 2024-2025.
Scott also made his presence felt in a string of cup and league qualification matches including the League Cup 2024-2025, Scottish Cup 2024-2025, and Conference League Qualifiers 2024-2025 all for St Mirren, predominantly featuring as a substitute.
James Scott's career thus far paints a picture of resilience and adaptability, consistently refining his craft across different teams, leagues and, indeed, countries.
