Jacob Ramsey, born on 28 May 2001 (age 24), is an English central midfielder now at Newcastle United, where he wears no. 41. His market value is around £34m, according to Transfermarkt.
Ramsey’s career has been shaped above all by Aston Villa. Early loan football gave him senior minutes away from the club, but Villa was where he became a proper Premier League player. Across six seasons there, he made 137 league appearances and scored 14 league goals.
His best league return came in 2021-2022, when he scored six times in 34 appearances for Villa. That season gave a clearer sense of what he could offer: energy from midfield, a willingness to carry the ball, and enough goal threat to make him more than a tidy passer.
By 2025-2026 he had moved on to Newcastle United and remained a regular first-team presence. He has made 43 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle, scoring twice, including 28 Premier League appearances, two FA Cup outings, four in the League Cup and nine in the Champions League.
Ramsey’s career is still most strongly associated with Aston Villa, where he built his senior reputation, but his Newcastle spell has kept him involved at a high level rather than drifting into the background.
