Jacob Murphy, born on 24 February 1995 (age 31), is an English right winger whose senior career has become firmly tied to Newcastle United. He wears squad number 23 and is valued at around £13.5m by Transfermarkt.
His early development was shaped by loan football, with the standout spell coming at Coventry City in 2015–2016. That season gave him regular minutes and end product, with nine league goals in 40 appearances – still his most productive league campaign.
Newcastle is where the bulk of the work has been done. Across eight seasons he has made 218 league appearances and scored 22 league goals, a long enough stretch to move him well beyond the category of passing squad option. He has not always been the headline act, but he has stayed useful, which is often the harder trick.
In 2025–2026, Murphy remains a regular first-team presence. He has made 33 league appearances with three goals, as well as featuring in the FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League. Across all competitions for Newcastle that season, he has 46 appearances and four goals.
Murphy’s career has been built around persistence, loan grounding and a long Newcastle spell that continues to matter. He is an established Premier League player, still involved at a serious level rather than merely hanging around the squad.
