Hyunjun Yang, born 25 May 2002 (age 24), is a South Korean right winger in the current Celtic squad, wearing number 13. He came through at Gangwon FC and had his clearest breakthrough there in 2022, scoring eight goals in 36 league appearances.
Celtic brought him in from Gangwon in July 2023 for around £2m. It was not a small adjustment, but Yang has remained in the first-team picture rather than drifting to the margins. His current market value is around £4.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
His Celtic spell has already brought a Premiership title, a League Cup and a Scottish Cup, all part of the 2024–2025 period, with another Scottish Cup campaign ending as runner-up. That gives his early years in Glasgow some substance, even if he is still very much a player being shaped rather than one with a settled final form.
In 2025–2026, Yang has been a regular first-team presence, making 31 league appearances and scoring eight league goals. He has also played four times in the Scottish Cup, twice in Champions League qualifying and seven times in the Europa League, where he added another goal. He has continued to be involved with South Korea too, making three appearances in Asian World Cup qualifying this season.
Yang’s career so far has moved from promise at Gangwon to a meaningful role at Celtic, with trophies already won and enough current involvement to keep him relevant in the side. He is not a finished article, but he is no longer just a project either.
