Let's chat about the inimitable Hamza Igamane, a young lad born and bred in Morocco on the 2nd of November, 2002. The stripling, now aged 22, seems to have found a comfortable niche in his attacking role, primarily deployed as a striker for Rangers, a sensation we still find rather confounding. He stands at a respectable 1.81m (5ft 11in) and tips the scales at a hardy 77kg (12st 1lb). The lad can be spied gallivanting around the pitch in his number 29 jersey.
Backtracking a bit, we find young Hamza taking his first football steps with FAR Rabat in the Botola in January 2021. During his debut season in 2022 - 2023, the nervous novice made 18 first-team appearances and managed to rustle the net nearly half a dozen times, six to be precise. The subsequent season, the Moroccan prodigy clocked up a robust 20 appearances and slotted in an impressive seven goals in league matches. Begrudgingly, one must admit it was a decent performance.
July 2024 bade us a melancholic farewell to Igamane who was snagged from FAR Rabat by Rangers. The chaps across in Scotland deemed him worthy of a cool £1.5m, a fact we still find slightly incredulous. In his current season 2024 - 2025 at Rangers, Igamane continues to make his mark, having already trotted out 25 times in the team and bagged nine goals in league matches.
And it seems he doesn't just confine himself to home turf. Igamane took to the field carrying the Rangers banner in the League Cup 2024 - 2025 with one start and one appearance as a substitute, showing off similar diligence in the Scottish Cup with one start. Even the Europa League had the pleasure of his company, during which he managed to knock in four goals in four starts and three appearances as a substitute. What an overachiever.
