Enter into the limelight, Dujon Sterling, born at the very brink of the 21st century, that is, on 24 October 1999 if we need to be so specific. Currently into his millennial-ish 25 years of age, he was moulded by the green pastures of England, and more interestingly, happens to be one of Queen's land's defender, primarily making his living as a right back for Rangers. Height wise, he teeters at 1.86m (approximately 6ft 1in) tall and tips the scales about 81kg (or, if you prefer the old-fashioned jargon, 12st 10lb). The lad fancies the number 21 on his jersey, and why not, a numerical symbol of his youthful prowess, you might say.
Let us embark on a short pilgrimage through Sterling's illustrious career, if you please. In July 2015, Sterling made what you could perhaps positively call 'a big step', to join Chelsea in the Premier League as a trainee. However, they do say a rolling stone gathers no moss, and this Sterling soon rolled his way out to Coventry City in the Championship on loan, as of July 2018.
Not content with becoming a resident of Coventry, an allegedly medieval city if such elements impress you, in August 2019, Sterling transferred from Chelsea to Wigan Athletic in the League One, again on loan. This debut season (2019 - 2020) gave him the overwhelming privilege to make eight first team appearances in league matches. Thrilling, wouldn't you say?
A shifting spectacle, quite literally, Sterling once more changed locality in August 2021, transferring from Chelsea to Blackpool in the League One, also on loan. During the historical season of 2021 - 2022, Sterling catapulted himself to 24 first team appearances in league matches. The excitement is palpable, dear reader.
Not wishing to contradict any stereotypes regarding footballers and loyalty, Sterling again packed his kit bag in September 2022, transferring from Chelsea to Stoke City in the Championship, again, would you believe it, on loan. During the ground-breaking season of 2022 - 2023, Sterling managed to participate in 26 first team league matches.
In an almost earth-shattering move, Sterling relocated once again, this time from Chelsea to Rangers in the Premiership as of July 2023. He has managed to repeat his previous years of glory, making 24 first team appearances in the 2023 - 2024 season and 17 (and counting) in the current season of 2024 - 2025.
One could argue that Sterling's participation in the League Cup 2024 - 2025 for Rangers, consisting of two starts and two appearances as a substitute, his scoring of one goal in the Europa League 2023 - 2024 with one start and two appearances as a substitute, and his performances in the Champions League Qualifiers 2024 - 2025 and Europa League 2024 - 2025 with a respective total of four appearances as a sub and six starts could be notable accomplishments. And who am I to argue, dear reader.
