In July 2018 Wright took a new path, transferring from Colchester United to St Johnstone in Scotland's Championship. The seasons between 2018 and 2025 saw him turning out more regularly for the club, with season 2022-2023 being particularly notable for featuring seven goals in thirty-eight first team appearances.
Wright later swapped St Johnstone for another Scottish team, Hibernian, in July 2020. His stint at Hibernian lasted until 2022, after which he rejoined St Johnstone.
In July 2025, Wright made another switch, this time to Dundee. His debut season with Dundee saw him scoring one goal from thirty-one appearances in the Premiership.
