Dimitar Mitov is a Bulgarian-born goalkeeper, who currently dons the number 1 jersey for Aberdeen. Born on the 22nd of January 1997, Mitov is a commanding presence between the sticks due to his stature, standing 6ft 2in tall (1.88m) and tipping the scales at 11st 13lb (76kg). He has also had the honour of representing his native Bulgarian national team.

Mitov began his career in England, joining Charlton Athletic in the League One from his homeland in August 2014. A loan spell to Canvey Island in England's lower leagues filled out the second half of Mitov's first season. After returning to Charlton Athletic in June 2015, he transferred to Cambridge United in League One in July 2017. During the 2022 - 2023 season at Cambridge United, Mitov made 23 first team appearances in league matches.
The lure of Scottish football proved strong for Mitov, as he departed Cambridge for St Johnstone in Scotland's Premiership in July 2023. In his first season (2023 - 2024) in the Scottish top-flight, he tallied 38 first team appearances in league matches. A further move within the Scottish Premiership saw Mitov transfer to Aberdeen in July 2024 for an undisclosed fee. Club records show Mitov already has 17 starting appearances for Aberdeen in this current 2024 - 2025 season.
Mitov's performances have not gone unnoticed on the international stage either, as he featured for Bulgaria in the 2024 - 2025 Nations League, achieving 6 starts. The same season also saw Mitov involved in cup action, notching up six starts for Aberdeen in the League Cup.
