Denil Castillo, born on 24 March 2004 (age 22), is an Ecuadorian central defensive midfielder with FC Midtjylland. His senior career has been shaped mainly in Denmark, where he has become a regular enough part of Midtjylland’s midfield rather than just another young name passing through the squad.
Across three league seasons with Midtjylland, Castillo has made 58 league appearances and scored six goals. His most productive campaign came in 2025–26, when he scored four times in 26 league matches – a decent return for a player whose main work sits deeper in midfield.
In 2026–27, he has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Midtjylland, scoring twice. That includes 10 Superliga games, two Europa League qualifying appearances, four in Conference League qualifying and one in the Conference League itself. He has also represented Ecuador this season, making one appearance in South American World Cup qualifying.
His current market value is around £3m, according to Transfermarkt. At this stage, Castillo’s career is a Midtjylland story above all else: a young Ecuadorian midfielder building a steady senior record in Denmark.
