Danny Schmidt’s most productive league spell came with Mainz 05 II in 2023–24, when he scored 13 goals in 31 appearances. That remains the clearest marker in a developing senior career: regular football, a decent return, and evidence of a forward able to turn minutes into something more useful than polite promise.
His path has since taken him into Scottish football, where his form this season has been solid rather than spectacular. His most recent appearance came in St Johnstone’s 1-1 draw with Falkirk on 19 September 2026, and he has been out of the matchday squad in recent weeks.
Schmidt is an established professional still looking for the next proper step in his career. The Mainz 05 II season showed what he can do over a sustained run; the task now is to get back into regular first-team football.
