Craig Halkett, born on 29 May 1995 (age 31), is a Scottish central defender with Hearts, where he wears squad number 4. His current market value is around £425,000, according to Transfermarkt.
His early loan spells gave him the kind of first-team grounding centre-halves tend to need, away from the safer language of potential and into the more useful business of defending properly. The spell that stands out most clearly came later at Livingston, where his 2018-19 league season brought seven goals in 34 appearances – a strong return for a defender and a fair sign of his threat at set-pieces.
At Hearts, Halkett has remained a straightforward defensive option rather than a decorative one. In 2026-27, he has made one Scottish Cup appearance, in the 1-1 draw away to Motherwell on 9 May 2026. His form this season has been solid, though he has been out of the matchday squad in recent weeks.
Halkett’s career has been built on steady centre-back work, with early loans shaping his development, Livingston giving him his most productive league campaign, and Hearts providing his current stage.
