Here we have the delightfully average Connor Barron, born on August 29th, 2002 in some corner of Scotland, currently 22 years old. Most notably, he's carved out a wearily sufficient career as a central midfielder (though just about). As it stands, you'll find him running around in a desperation to impress at Rangers, wearing the number 8 shirt. For some, that number would be an honour. For Barron, it is a target. He measures 5' 8” (1.75m) in height and tips the scales at 10st 7lb (67kg), likely half of which is arrogance and audacity.
Barron has had a rather uneventful career, joining Aberdeen as a trainee in the mildly trying month of July 2017. Maybe the Scottish Premiership was a level too high for our lad, because he favoured a stint at Brechin City on loan in the Scottish Highland League from September 2020. Perhaps missing the stress of constant disappointment, Barron returned to Aberdeen in June 2021, after presumably doing nothing of significance at Brechin.
In a recurring theme of seeking solace from the Premiership, he was then off to Kelty Hearts in the Scottish League One on loan in August 2021. Yet, almost predictably, he crawled back to Aberdeen in January 2022. Despite offering minimal contribution, Barron apparently made 13 appearances in the 2021-2022 season, then 17 in the 2022-2023 season (scoring a resounding 1 goal), and 29 appearances in the 2023-2024 season (with another solitary goal).
By July 2024, he'd been shipped off to Rangers for an undisclosed fee. You know you've hit the pinnacle of mediocrity when even the fee is too embarrassing to disclose. He's played 19 times for them this current 2024-2025 season, presumably because they've no one else to fill his boots.
Not forgetting his service to the country, he has also somehow wrangled his way into the Scottish national team, though one isn't quite sure how.
According to his slightly more distinguished record at Rangers, Barron has started twice in the League Cup 2024 - 2025, appeared once in the Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025, started twice in the Champions League Qualifiers 2024 - 2025, and had a run of seven starts and one substitute appearance in the Europa League 2024 - 2025. High aspirations there.
