Clinton Nsiala-Makengo, or simply Nsiala, is as French as a freshly baked baguette. Born afar in France on the frosty day of 17 January 2004, he's now reached the ripe age of 21. No doubt he dreamt of storming the fields as a wee boy, but in truth, I can't give you an insight into his childhood whimsies. What I can tell you, is that this fellow is a footballing defender by trade, presently showcasing his services for Rangers. He makes quite an imposing figure, stretching up to approximately 6ft 2in (1.88m) in the air and hauling around some 13st 9lb (87kg) of mass - he's certainly not one to be nudged off the ball easily. If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate circumstance of watching a Rangers match, remember, our dear Nsiala dons the number 19 jersey.
Allow me to take you on a wee nostalgic journey to July 2021. A time when Nsiala, seeking world-class lasagnas and better weather, decided to part ways with Nantes in France's Ligue 1 and gambol off to AC Milan in Italy's Serie A. Three years later, in another stunning display of masochism, he waved a cheery 'ciao' to his pals at San Siro and hopped on a plane to the rain-soaked land of Scotland, putting pen to paper with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
While it's certainly no secret that footballing prowess is not a term synonymous with Rangers, our dear Nsiala has managed to drum up at least some semblance of respectability. In the 2024 - 2025 Scottish Cup campaign, he was given the nod to start in a game, miraculously managing to net a goal. As the old saying goes, "even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day".
