Cillian Sheridan, born on 23 February 1989 (age 37), is an Irish striker who came through at Celtic as a trainee before making most of his career elsewhere. At 6ft 5in (1.96m), he was always an imposing forward, though his Celtic connection was an early chapter rather than the main body of the work.
He left Celtic in August 2010 for CSKA Sofia, starting a career that became notably well-travelled. His route after Glasgow took in Bulgaria, Scotland, Cyprus, New Zealand, Israel and Poland, with spells at CSKA Sofia, Kilmarnock, APOEL, Omonia Nicosia, Wellington Phoenix, Ironi Kiryat Shmona, Wisla Plock, Dundee, Inverness CT, Queen’s Park and Brechin City.
His most productive league season came at Kilmarnock in 2012-13, when he scored nine goals in 26 appearances. It was a useful return in familiar surroundings, and a reminder that the raw materials first seen at Celtic could be turned into steady senior output when the fit was right.
Sheridan later became more firmly associated with Jagiellonia Bialystok, where his career settled into a more established shape. It has been a broad, practical career rather than a neat one: a Celtic academy start, a move abroad in 2010, and a long run of senior football across several leagues.
