Brad Lyons, born 26 May 1997 in Northern Ireland, is a 28-year-old midfielder recognised for his robust, central midfield performance for Kilmarnock. Standing 6ft tall (1.83m) and weighing 11st 13lb (76kg), the number 8 isn't a figure to be overlooked on the pitch. Lyons has, impressively, also turned out for the Northern Ireland national team.
Lyons' professional journey commenced in July 2014, when he joined the Premiership outfit Coleraine in Northern Ireland as a neophyte. The subsequent seasons proved pivotal in his development. During his debut season (2014-2015), he made 11 appearances for the senior squad, scoring twice. His performances improved during the 2015-2016 season, culminating in 30 appearances and four goals. His progress continued as he scored five goals in 24 appearances in the 2016-2017 season. In his last season (2017-2018) with Coleraine, he found the back of the net three times in 17 appearances.
In September 2018, Lyons was loaned to Championship team Blackburn Rovers. He changed ships permanently the following January, departing Coleraine and signing with Blackburn Rovers, though the transfer fee details were undisclosed.
During the winter 2019 transfer window, Lyons took another loan trip to top-tier Scottish side St Mirren. Here, he contributed a goal in his 15 appearances in the 2018-2019 season. Despite this, in June 2019, his temporary service ended and he returned to Blackburn Rovers.
Lyons's next adventure took him on loan to Morecambe, a National League side in England, in January 2021. Six months later, in July 2021, he left Blackburn for good, heading north to sign for Scottish Premiership team Kilmarnock.
During the 2022-2023 season, his debut season with Kilmarnock, he crafted a place in the lineup, making 19 appearances and scoring once. He continued this upward trajectory in the 2023-2024 season, making 23 appearances and bagging two goals. His most impressive season tally so far came in the 2024-2025 season, making 31 appearances and scoring once. Fast-forwarding to the current 2025-2026 season, Lyons has started 11 matches.
In addition to his league appearances, Lyons has also orchestrated contributions on larger stages. The midfielder scored once in the 2025-2026 League Cup for Kilmarnock, featuring in three starting line-ups and making a substitute appearance. He was part of the 2024-2025 Scottish Cup run with Kilmarnock, making a starting appearance. Internationally, he represented Northern Ireland in the World Cup Qualifiers, Euro Qualifiers, and the Nations League between 2022 and 2026.
