Oh, the fascinating tale of one Bojan Miovski! Born in Macedonia on none other than the splendid summer day of 24 June 1999, our man Miovski graced the world with a propensity for kicking a ball about. He came into this grand game with a solid stature of 6ft 2in (1.89m), tipping the scales at a respectable 12st 12lb (82kg). For reasons unknown to us mere mortals, the number 28 jersey seems to have caught his fancy, and he's stuck to it with tenacious resolve, both at his current posting with Rangers and whilst donning the proudly eagle-emblazoned shirt of the North Macedonia national team.
According to some assemblage of numbers and figures over at Transfermarkt, they're touting this lad as worth around a cool £2m, give or take. Good for you, Bojan, good for you.
His journey through football has seen him making leaps both geographical and financial, starting at Renova in the Macedonian Prva Liga back in the halcyon days of 2020. He was passed on to MTK Budapest, where he managed a decent haul of 7 goals and 8 in his first and second seasons respectively. Not earth-shattering, surely, but proved he could find the net on a muddy Tuesday night out in Eastern Europe.
From the Hungarian Nemzeti Bajnokság I, our quizzical footballer found his way to Scotland, of all places. With a price tag of about £650k, he found himself at Aberdeen, scoring a commendable 16 goals in back-to-back seasons. But alas, the bright lights of Aberdeen were not enough, and after hobnobbing in Scotland for a bit, like some grand tour of the Highlands, he moved on, salsa-ing his way over to Spain's Girona in 2024 for a spiffing £6.8m.
Across two seasons with Girona, his time on green grass was limited, managing only 18 league appearances and netting the ball twice – not quite the goal per game ratio we might have hoped for. Yet, one man's flop is another's hidden gem, and our intrepid striker found his way back to bonnie Scotland, now as a Ranger, acquired for a softer £4.2m.
Amidst the incessant drone of bagpipes and overpriced pints, he has since managed seven goals in 26 appearances in the current Scottish Premiership season. Toss in a few goals in Cup matches and International qualifiers, and he's shown a knack for finding the net when it matters. Though, given his meandering career path, one can only wonder what delightful twists and turns await us next in the ongoing saga of Bojan Miovski-
