If you cast an eye towards Ibrox these days, Rangers have a new toy they simply can't shut up about. Enter Bojan Miovski, a 26 year-old Macedonian who supposedly excels when shoved up front in the role of striker. Now granted, the lad has some impressive metrics. He stands at 6ft 2in (or 1.89m for those partial to the metric system) and weighs in at 12st 12lb (or 82kg for those who sniff at anything archaic).
Miovski flits about the pitch adorned in the number 28 jersey, presumably because all the lower numbers were taken by players with a wee bit more experience. His current market value hovers around a supposedly impressive €2.50m, but in real money that translates to about £2m, for those of us who appreciate a native currency [Transfermarkt].
Our young friend's career thus far charts a journey from the anonymity of Renova in the Prva Liga, Macedonia to the slightly less obscure MTK Budapest in Hungary in June 2020, for what they label as an 'undisclosed fee'. And we all know undisclosed usually means too embarrassing to mention. In his time at MTK Budapest, Miovski notched up 26 appearances scoring a cavernous seven goals in his first season, with a slight improvement to eight goals in 30 appearances in the following year.
In July 2022, Miovski left MTK Budapest to bring his talents, such as they were, to Aberdeen. The fee, brought down considerably from his current market value, was a mere £650k. A steal one might say, if the stolen goods in question were particularly mediocre. He spent a few cold winters in Scotland, knocking in 16 goals a season like clockwork and taunting defences with his two whole appearances in the 2024-2025 season.
August 2024 marked another distasteful moment in the Scottish Premiership as Aberdeen sold Miovski to LaLiga side Girona for an estimated £6.8m. Perhaps they were simply glad to be rid of him. His spell in Spain was fruitful, at least in the sense that he did indeed score two goals. Whether a goal every 8.5 games is considered fruitful however, is highly questionable.
Then, in this month of heaven or hell, depending on your viewpoint, August 2025, Miovski traded the warmth of Girona for the biting cold of Scottish football again, in a move that could only be described as perplexing. He now graces the turf at Rangers, again for a knocked down price of £4.2m. Thus far he's impressed or bored spectators with a grand total of one goal in four games.
Of course, Miovski has had his moments on the international stage too. World Cup Qualifiers, Euro Qualifiers, Nations League - you name it, he's played it. Well, some of it. Actually, not a lot of it. But he's scored a few goals here and there, so we'll give him that. Anyway, perhaps his most notable achievement is making two appearances as a substitute in the Europa League. Quite the accolade, I'm sure you'll agree.
