The lad christened as Ben Brannan hailed into the world on the cold Scottish day of 30th January 2007. In terms of his stature, he does not have the advantage of great height which can often offer some aid on the pitch, standing at a modest 5ft 8in (1.73m). However, he is a sturdy fellow, weighing in at 10st 9lb (68kg). The number 26 has become synonymous with his name on the pitch, as it's the jersey he has chosen to wear.
Honing his skills as a defender, Brannan has shown his prowess on the right flank, making right back his habitual position. In recent times, his regular turf has been Rugby Park, playing for Kilmarnock since July 2023.
However, like many a footy player in the budding stages of their career, Brannan has already experienced the transient nature of the profession. He had a little jaunt away from Kilmarnock, joining Inverness CT on loan in the somewhat quieter surroundings of Scottish League One. This came into effect in February 2025, during the brunt of the winter transfer window.
Despite being on loan, Brannan did not overstay his welcome in the Highlands. By June 2025 he was heading back down the A9 to Kilmarnock, having fulfilled his temporary commitment to Inverness CT.
Upon his return to Rugby Park, Brannan had a notable stint during the League Cup 2025 - 2026 for Kilmarnock. He started just three matches, but he certainly made his presence felt, netting three goals in the process. One wonders if this goal-scoring defence man might have been inspired by the likes of Celtic's Virgil Van Dijk during his time at the club.
